A new steak house is opening in the Liberty Wharf area tonight, and that new steakhouse is called Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House. The first Del Frisco's opened in Dallas more than 20 years ago, and there are now nine locations across the country.
During the new Boston Del Frisco's grand opening this past Thursday night, I learned that the restaurant is all about quality -- quality service, quality food, and quality atmosphere.
I entered Del Frisco's by way of red carpet and felt like a star from the moment forward. Meghan and I, after being offered glasses of bubbly at the entrance, made our way up the long staircase, and at the top, we were immediately greeted and beckoned farther into the restaurant. We marveled at the wine displays and could see for ourselves the value Del Frisco's places on its award-winning wine list.
As we walked around the restaurant taking in all the sights, we noticed the extensive raw bar running the length of the restaurant's water view. Complete with double eagle ice sculptures, the raw bar featured oysters, crab, and shrimp.
Across from the raw bar was the meat and cheese station. It was stunning to look at.
We checked out the far room where we found cocktails being poured by way of ice luge. We almost got cocktails there, but since we were still sipping the bubbly we had been handed on our way in, we decided to wait.
As we were wandering around taking pictures of everything in sight, we ran into Michelle and her fiance Bret, Renee and her boyfriend Ryan, and Fiona. The seven of us staked out a booth, where we dropped our stuff, mingled with each other, and sampled the passed hors d'oeuvres that came our way, presented by the most polite and attentive restaurant staff I've ever encountered.

When we needed new drinks, Michelle, Bret, Meghan, and I ventured out to the deck, where I hope to eat dinner at some point this summer, and chatted with the bartenders who were mixing up Absolut Boston cocktails. I went for an Absolut Wild Tea cocktail.

We ate some more, mingled some more, photographed some more and finally decided it was time to see what else Del Frisco's had to offer. We found the event rooms (which I would love to have an event in), where the dessert spread and the Moet table were set up. This was really the jackpot.
Eventually, we grabbed all of our stuff and moved to a table in the event room, where we stayed for the rest of the evening. We had bubbly, we savored desserts, and we watched the Bruins beat the Canadiens in overtime!

To top off a truly wonderful evening, Michelle, Renee, and I split what the waitress described to us as an adult milkshake. I have no idea what was in it, I just know it was the best milkshake I've ever had.
Del Frisco's went above and beyond. The food and drinks were plentiful and noteworthy. The space is absolutely gorgeous, not just the view and the layout, but even the seemingly less significant details like light fixtures and bathrooms. Above all, the staff was absolutely incredible. I've never felt so well taken care of. Empty glasses were whisked quickly away and replaced with fresh drinks. Hors d'oeuvres and desserts were offered each time someone walked by us. And most of all, when Meghan and I were taking pictures and juggling our drinks, more than once someone offered to hold our drinks for us.
This evening was complimentary, but if Del Frisco's upholds these standards on any given day, I can tell you that I honestly can't wait to go back and have dinner there. I kind of want to know what the crisp duck steak is all about...
