Wishing you and yours a very happy Thanksgiving!
This is just a quick post to introduce you to one of my favorite Thanksgiving traditions -- one of the things I miss most about not heading home for Thanksgiving. It ranks right up there with my dad's famous turkey gravy.
Every year for as long as I can remember, we would all wait for Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant" to come on the radio. In Connecticut, we'd tune into PLR -- they play it at 6 a.m., noon, and 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving day.
I still haven't figured out what station plays it around here, so I've resorted to finding it on YouTube and playing it when I have the time to listen to it (it's about 20 minutes long). It makes me think of my family and of Thanksgivings past. We would sit and laugh together and sing along... it was always especially fun later in the day when extended family would be over for dinner and everyone would start singing.
If you've never heard it before, here's the link: Alice's Restaurant
Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving! I love Alice's Restaurant, what a fun tradition! It's definitely hard to be away from my family today, but also great to see Eric's family. Have a great one!
Happy Thanksgiving M! I have not heard of Alice's Restaurant, but I will definitely check it out on Youtube. I imagine it would not be Thanksgiving for you without it. All the best.
Enjoy your holiday! That's a really cute family tradition. We often say there are no Thanksgiving songs, but you've created one. :)
My Mom loves Alice's Restaurant! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
You know, I'd never heard of this until two days ago but apparently it's a pretty popular Thanksgiving tradition! Need to check it out. Hope you had an awesome T-Day!
