We celebrated Thanksgiving day with Jeff's family at his parents' house, and I made sage-roasted butternut squash and a cheesecake topped with cranberry curd and a bittersweet chocolate drizzle.
On Saturday, Jeff and I hosted Thanksgiving dinner at our house (with lots of help from family). It was our first Thanksgiving in our new house, which we've been in for almost a year now, and I think it was a success. Hosting was much less stressful than I thought it would be, but I also made a bunch of stuff ahead and stayed on top of the prep work. Here are some scenes from our dinner.
Make-your-own-salad: field greens, pears, dried cherries and cranberries, blueberries,
goat cheese, gorgonzola, pepitas, and balsamic dressing
Pomegranate-mint relish, olives, and pickles
Cornbread, mini buttermilk dinner rolls, pumpkin-cranberry-pecan twists, and pumpkin bread
The turkey
Plated turkey and Dad's stuffing with sausage, apple, and dried cranberries and cherries
Mom's mashed potatoes (wouldn't be Thanksgiving without them)
Brussels sprouts, turnip, corn, and spinach gratin
Butternut squash two ways: mashed with butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup and sage-roasted
Dessert: deconstructed pumpkin pie, apple pie with streusel topping, cranberry granita, apple cider caramels, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and pomegranate seeds
And one of the world's best nephews!
How was your Thanksgiving? I hope you had good food and great times with friends and family!
