Honeymoon -- Day 8 -- Positano (Morning/Afternoon)

We woke up in the morning to no rain, clearer skies, and these beautiful views from our balcony at the Eden Roc Hotel in Positano.

We had breakfast at the hotel -- this was one of the better spreads, with lots of pastries, quiche, fresh veggies, and cappuccino made to order.

And then we headed out to explore!

Positano is every bit as beautiful as it looks in pictures.

We followed one road all the way down into the area with all the shops. The roads are extremely narrow, and it's pretty interesting to see what happens when two buses going opposite directions meet.

The shops are filled with clothes, dishes, jewelry, and lots and lots of limoncello.

We walked all the way down to the pier and the beach, stopping in shops along the way.

After a bit more wandering around and really doing a lot of lingering because there's not a ton to see, we went back to the hotel and laid out on the roof terrace for a little while, just soaking in the sun.

Later we decided to find some lunch and walked back down to the beach. Ristorante la Pergola was right at the waterfront and looked pretty popular, so we gave it a try. We sat at the front of the restaurant where we had a good view of the water. We even saw a bride and groom out on the beach having their wedding photos taken.

We ordered some prosciutto and mozzarella to share (which we snacked on with drizzles of balsamic and olive oil), and I got the eggplant boats, which were a special. The boats were awesome. The eggplant was cooked so it was tender and melty inside, and it was topped with mozzarella, tomatoes, capers, and olives.

Then we split a Margherita pizza. I think it's so interesting that they don't cut the pizzas in Italy. This was one of the better pizzas we had on the trip -- thin crust, nicely sauced, and just enough cheese.

After lunch we walked along the beach for a bit and made sure to dip our toes in the Tyrrhenian Sea. I tried to imagine what it would look like in the summertime. Supposedly you have to rent chairs and umbrellas to go on the beach. During the off-season, you can just grab a towel from your hotel and make yourself at home.
