New Year's Eve Menu Ideas

Every year when it comes time to decide what to do on New Year's Eve, my top picks are to stay in and make a fancy meal for the two of us or have some close friends over and make hors d'oeuvres and finger foods to snack on while catching up, watching the ball drop, and sipping bubbly.

Over the years I've made some great meals and hosted some fun New Year's Eve gatherings, so I thought I'd share some of the dishes and bites I consider New Year's Eve-worthy in case you're planning to stay in and need some menu ideas.

We are continuing our tradition of staying in, cooking, and drinking Champagne. We have a special wine from my birth year and might open that as well. I had grand plans of making short ribs but am so sick, so it might change to some sort of take out!

We're following Meghan's tradition and doing the same! We're thinking Thai coconut mussels, chicken and sausage gumbo, and some dried cherry chocolate bars. It will be a fun afternoon/evening/early morning of cooking, eating, drinking bubbly, watching movies and playing board games!

Sounds like the perfect way to spend NYE to me! We thought about doing the same but have decided to move the festivities to a friend's house. I'll have to forward some of these recipes along to the hostess!

this is perfect! I think for the first year (ever in my adult life) Adam has convinced me to stay in. I told him he was in charge of cooking and he said he was making lobster. we will see. Your apps and salads should come in handy for us!!

I would go to a New Year's shindig hosted by you with any dish from your blog. In an unexpected turn, I'll be spending NYE in Western Mass. Luckily I'll be with my foodie friends so we'll make something good :)

We are actually going out to dinner this year, but looking at your recipes, the Pot Roast Pappardelle is something Jon would LOVE. We've been using our Dutch oven a LOT recently, but looking for new recipes. Can't wait to try it! Happy New Year!
