Mindy from TextStyle Designs was the one vendor who actually found me, saving me from endless invitation research. She had left a comment on my blog sharing that she had worked with Joanne Chang at Rialto and had served dessert to Julia Child. How could I not want to get in touch with someone with those credentials? She sounded so much like me (I mean, I didn't serve dessert to Julia Child but I did work for Joanne).

Jeff and I made an appointment and drove to Mindy's house to meet with her. There we sat in her office and went through box after box of invitations setting aside ones we liked. Then we discussed with her what we liked about them and how to incorporate those elements into our design. In the end, we had an invitation that was uniquely us, right down to using cows and pigs for the meal choices on the RSVP cards and including a silhouette complete with a chocolate lab representing how we met. (She can do anything, so don't feel confined by the options on the website.)

I loved working with Mindy so much that a lot of the projects I thought I would end up doing myself (what an overambitious bride I was) became her projects. She did our save-the-dates, favor tags, welcome bag tags, all of the signs for the reception, and the escort cards. I'm very matchy-matchy, and I loved that we were able to carry one theme through everything.

We chose to do signs instead of programs and menus at everyone's seats, and my dad made us some awesome rustic-looking frames to display the signs. I figured those who wanted to know the details could go over and check out the signs at some point during the evening.

Mindy was the most responsive vendor we worked with when planning our wedding. Like clockwork, I could find an email from her in my inbox around 6:30 each morning in response to one of mine. She turned things around quickly and she worked with us to design exactly what we needed for our wedding. We've referred friends to her -- for wedding invitations and even for bar mitzvah invitations -- and they've all been very happy. I can't recommend working with her highly enough. So much of wedding planning can be so frustrating, and it's important to work with people who just make it easy.
